Lot Essay

The present watch is offered by its original owner, an important Italian collector, in absolutely mint condition, still retaining the green sticker to the back and the protective plastic stickers to the case.

After more than 40 years of “service”, reference 1016 is discontinued in 1990. Its legacy is picked up by reference 14270 and later the present 114710. The DNA of the model is undeniably present, albeit re-interpreted with a more modern twist, noticeable especially in the dial design, characterized by large, more angular applied numerals. The case instead remains extremely similar to the vintage model, with even the size remaining the same, remarkably eluding the influence of a trend that was already in the late 1990s beginning to be felt in watch designs.
