PROVENANCE:
Directly gifted by the artist and thence by descent.
NOTE:
The recipient of this painting is Wang Pichang, who became acquainted with Li Keran when they were both in May Seventh Cadre School. Wang later became the head manager at the Hubei Province Arts and Crafts Association in Wuhan, inviting Li to give lectures on art theory, collected in Lectures of Li Keran(illustrated). This booklet is included with the present work and contains more insights into their collaboration. This work was the artist’s gift to Wang, painted at Wuhan Donghu Hotel.
