Lot Essay

In recent years, Girard-Perregaux has released a collection of watches under the model reference Opera. The collection consists of three different models, Opera 1, 2 and 3; each model is specifically designed with a mechanism that repeats with an impressive chime.

The Opera 1 features two very intricate and unique complications: the brand’s signature golden bridge tourbillon and a minute repeater with Westminster chime on four gongs. Unlike a normal minute repeater, a Westminster chime is unique because it requires multiple gongs and hammers to replicate the peal of bells that ring out from the Houses of Parliament in London.

The high quality finishing of the watch and the movement is truly mesmerizing to all eyes. Furthermore the Opera 1 was named Swiss Watch of the Year by Montres Passion in 1999 and The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry awarded this model the Special Jury Prize.
