Lot Essay

The present Heuer “Jo Siffert” Autavia is an extremely early example of an automatic Autavia with the iconic “Jo Siffert” color scheme from the legendary Swiss racecar driver. Notably, it features several traits of the preceding Chronomatic Siffert Autavia, such as an hour register that features just 3-6-9-12 demarcations (versus the following lot that has 1-12 demarcated on the hour register), large blue painted plots at the hour markers, a so-called flat “V” in “AUTAVIA” on the dial where the bottom of the “V” has a flatter bottom, and ridged hour markers.

With a serial of 141’241, it predates many Chronomatic Siffert Autavias. The watch is presented in a remarkably original condition and is on the original bracelet made by Gay Frères marked 2/69, further indicating this was a watch made in 1969 and among the first batch of automatic

The present would be a wonderful addition to any collection of important Heuer chronographs and iconic watches.
