Lot Essay

The present Autavia is among the most beautiful “tropical” Heuer chronographs in the world. While the tropical dial concept, where the black part of a dial has turned brown, is most closely associated with vintage Rolex watches, this watch proves how beautiful a tropical Heuer chronograph can look. The bright hands pop visually against the rich brown dial with grey registers, all in a beautifully-preserved steel case with lightly faded bezel insert. It is a rare and important find.
