Lot Essay

The present work was commissioned by set designer Jacques Polieri for the performance of Jean Thibaudeau's Texte pour des sculptures de Arp, at the Théatre de l'Alliance Française on 21 May and 7 July 1960. The poetic texts comment and situate the relations of the space on stage with that of Arp's sculptures. The audience included Arp and his wife Marguerite, Alexander Calder, Sonia Delaunay, and Antoine Pevsner.
