Directly gifted from the artist and thence by descent.
NOTE :
The recipient of this painting was Mr Lin Shushen (Lim Soo Siam), courtesy name Bohou. He was born in Gulou Village in 1888 and died in Shantou in 1947. After embarking on his business career in Singapore at the age of 16, he founded the Yongruicheng Company, and co-founded the Wanmeicheng Company, trading local products such as pepper, sugarcane and rubber. Meanwhile he also managed a shipping business, and created the Baoning Pharmacy in Singapore. As the founder and chairman of multiple charity associations, he initiated several charity events offering free medical consultation and medicines during the Second World War.
