NOTE:
Born in 1945, He Baili is a notable ink painter from the fourth generation of the Lingnan School of Painting. As 2017 is a leap year and the year of the rooster (homophone of ji, meaning auspice), it is a highly auspicious year in the Chinese lunar calendar. The artist painted the Golden Bauhinia statue with a sea of flags of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in the foreground in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of HKSAR. The painting was officially printed as greeting cards in the beginning of the year to send out wishes to people who support the region all over the world.
A card signed by the artist is included in the lot as a gift.
61.2 x 60.8 cm. (24 1/8 x 23 7/8 in.)
