Lot Essay

Not only is the Audemars Piguet A-Series an important and iconic wristwatch in the history of the brand, this particular example stands out amongst other A-Series watches. Firstly, to find one from the early years of its production is an extreme rarity, especially in outstanding condition such as the present watch. However, upon first glance, this watch has a notable difference. One should examine the color of the dial which has aged over time, in this case over the last 30+ years. The unique color, some call it "faded" or "fiorito" in Italian (flowering), is intriguing. The center is a bronze-like color which disperses as it reaches the outer edges, forming a somewhat explosive visual. Dials age in very different ways and form various color change, however, none quite like the powerful energy that this color change creates, almost as if it has been brought to life, dynamic and free-spirited.

Offered with both its original bracelet as well as service bracelet and guarantee, this all original watch is an extreme rarity. For the collector seeking the finest and most important examples of iconic watches, the present watch should not be missed.
