Château Haut-Brion 1945
Pessac (Graves), 1er cru classé
In original wooden case. In original straws. Slightly corroded capsules. Three slightly bin-soiled labels, excellent appearance for age. Levels: two top-shoulder, two upper-shoulder, three mid-shoulder and one low-shoulder
Tasting note: A superb wine, possibly the best ever Haut-Brion. Consistently deep in colour, ‘warm ruby’ with a rich, mahogany rim; bouquet variously described as ‘vanilla chocolate’, tobacco, earthy, always harmonious, honeycomb, touch of liquorice; silky texture, crisp fruit, luscious, perfect weight, great length. A gentle giant. Last tasted Dec 2000 ***** MB
