Lot Essay

Highly attractive and rare, the present timepiece amazes through its excellent overall condition and high level of complication. Introduced in 2000, the watch was created in a limited number of 20 examples to pay homage to Edward Piguet, one of the founders of the firm in 1875.

Considered as part of the noblest complications, the minute repeater was developed to answer the need of knowing time in the dark, a more than common occurrence when electrical illumination was first non-existent and later only present in major cities. With a very attractive tone, the beauty of the carillon minute repeating mechanism can be observed through the sapphire crystal case back, with three hammers operating on three gongs, delivering a clear and melodious tone.

Offered with its Certificate of Origin as well as presentation box, the timepiece represents a rare opportunity to acquire a highly complicated and rare tiempiece of the Audemars Piguet manufacture.
