This painting is dedicated to Liang Bocong (1871-1945). Liang, born in Meizhou, was the city’s final graduate of the Qing dynasty civil service examination. He dedicated his life to education, teaching in multiple secondary schools in Meizhou. Lin Fengmian was one of his most famous pupils.
