Lot Essay

Reference 96 is a landmark model in the history of Patek Philippe. It is the first model of the “Stern Era”, launched in 1932, the same year the Stern family acquired the company, and it is also the first model bearing a reference number. Furthermore, this reference is considered the archetype for the vintage “Calatrava” style, distinguished by the flowing lines of the case and subtle downturned lugs. The case back is engraved, "To Dad, From Arthur, 12-25-1958."

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.
