Lot Essay

Of Royal provenance, the present timepiece has been part of an important private collection and kept with care throughout the years. With a case displaying no signs of polishing, the wristwatch features original proportions with sharp lugs, highly legible and crisp hallmarks.

A true icon, the Day-Date can be considered as amongst the most celebrated model of the Rolex manufacture. The first Rolex timepiece to display a separate day and date feature, the Day-Date was launched in 1956 and crafted in multiple variances, with examples adorned with precious stones, lacquered or hard-stone dials. With a very elegant and pure white dial, the present timepiece offers an attractive contrast with its yellow gold case and is offered with yellow gold Roman numerals, carefully applied on the dial.
