Lot Essay

Purchased by the present owner in 1985, this Nautilus ref. 3800/1 has never been offered in public before. The Patek Philippe "Nautilus" cufflinks, original certificate and box enhance its overall appeal.

Reference 3800/1
The reference 3800/1 was in production from 1981 to 2006 and offered an alternative to the larger sized “Jumbo” Nautilus. It was available in all four case metals as well as in two-tone cases and with different dial versions.

Ref. 3800 pays homage to the original Nautilus reference 3700 with a similar design and aesthetic except in a smaller size case and with the addition of a centre seconds hand made possible by the introduction of the Patek Philippe caliber 335 SC.

The model and movement caliber 335 SC are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 232 & 233.
