Lot Essay

The Upside Down collection was first introduced in 2009 and Ludovic Ballouard, the creative mastermind behind this innovation was awarded Special Prize of the Jury by the prestigious magazine Montres Passions in 2010. The Upside Down watch incorporates Ballouard's experience accumulated from working at prestigious brands before he devoted himself to his own independent workshop. He first worked with Franck Muller for 3 years before then joining Francois-Paul Journe for 7 years. At F.P. Journe, Ballouard focused on the assembly and regulation of Sonnerie Souveraine, which is one of the most exquisite watches ever created by the brand.

The present watch is numbered 8 of a limited edition of 12 pieces only and is set with an unusual dial where the hour is indicated by the correct hour being right-side up with all other numbers being upside down.
