Further Details
Produced in 2011-2012 and limited to only 15 pieces, the Richard Lange Tourbillon “Pour le Mérite” represents a culmination of what connoisseurs of fine watches associate with the legendary "A. Lange & Söhne" heritage.
This highly impressive and supremely elegant 41.9 mm. diameter watch is made of Lange’s specially developed “honey gold”, an alloy that includes silicon, physically harder and paler than standard 18k gold. The hand-engraved honey gold pivoting segment regulator-style dial takes its inspiration from the dials used for high-precision observatory clocks whereby the hours, minutes and seconds are read from individual chapter rings.
With fusée and chain transmission and a one-minute tourbillon, the L072.1 calibre movement incorporates therefore two of the most historic complications proven to contribute to the greater accuracy of a mechanical watch. Furthermore, the model is fitted with Lange’s patented stop-seconds mechanism which enables the user to stop and restart the entire movement with an accuracy of one-second.
The glazed display back allows the beauty and exceptional finish of the movement to be fully appreciated. To this end, the movement plate has been partially skeletonised so that the fusée and chain system - rarely implemented in wristwatches, can clearly be seen unwinding from the mainspring barrel onto the fusée while the watch is being wound.
The fusée and chain mechanism is one of the most effective methods of maintaining the accuracy of a watch by providing a constant amount of power to the escapement over the period that the mainspring unwinds from fully wound to unwound.
