Lot Essay

The recipient of this painting is Xu Junlian. He graduated from Shanghai Xinhua Fine Art College, and was a student of Xu Beihong. He later emigrated to Singapore and was one of the founders and later President of Singapore Society of Chinese Artists. He was also the Art Editor of Sin Chew Daily. During Xu Beihong’s exhibition in Singapore in 1939, Xu Junlian wrote many articles in the Sin Chew Daily to introduce Xu’s exhibition and artworks.
