Château Latour 1981
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
In original wooden case. Original tissues. Excellent appearance. Levels: base of neck or better
Tasting note: A good claret vintage…The weather conditions were advantageous: the early flowering in hot, dry weather which continued throughout the summer with a sprinkling of rain in September to swell the grapes and which cleared for the harvest on 1 October. Particularly successful in Pomerol. M.B.
Latour 1981: The 1981 tastes remarkably velvety and supple for such a young Latour--not that this is a malevolent occurrence--because the excellence, complexity, and richness of the wine are still present. The colour is dark ruby, the bouquet offers plenty of ripe cassis and spicy oak, and the flavour is generous, silky, moderately tannic, and long in the finish. Last tasted, 9/90.
