Christie’s è lieta di offrire una straordinaria collezione di opere di Giacomo Manzù provenienti dalla raccolta privata di Arrigo Lampugnani Nigri. Sua madre, Alice, committente dell’artista insieme con suo padre, è protagonista della maggior parte di ritratti femminili di Manzù, lavori che testimoniano l’amicizia e la stima reciproca tra la famiglia Lampugnani e l’artista, accompagnati da documenti e lettere che ne raccontano il continuo scambio di idee e spunti. La collezione Lampugnani offre un panorama unico delle qualità delle opere di Giacomo Manzù, spaziando dai disegni preparatori per una delle sue opere più note, il Grande ritratto di signora ad una serie di tele che l’artista realizzò appositamente per Casa Lampugnani a Milano, fino ad alcuni pezzi di design. Le opere della collezione saranno offerte nelle aste Christie’s di Impressionist and Modern Art di Milano, New York, Londra e Parigi.

His mother, Alice, together with his husband, commissioned many lots to the artist, and has also been the protagonist of most of his female portraits. These works witness the friendship and the mutual respect between Lampugnani Family and the artist, and they are accompanied by documents and letters that recount their ongoing exchange of inspirations and ideas. The Lampugnani collection offers a unique panorama of Giacomo Manzù’s works, ranging from the preparatory drawings for one of his best known works, the Great Portrait of a Lady to a series of paintings that the artist created specifically for Casa Lampugnani in Milan and a few design objects. The works from the collection will be offered in the upcoming Christie’s Impressionist and Modern Art sales in Milan, New York, London and Paris.
