The present Day-Date ref. 18079 (the last digit, 9, indicating its case metal, 18K white gold) is one of the exceedingly rare white gold examples of the celebrated model to appear in public. Its overall appeal is enhanced by the bark-finished decoration to bezel and President bracelet and, most importantly, by the highly attractive burgundy red lacquered “Stella” dial set with round-cut diamond hour markers and baguette-cut diamonds to 6 and 9 o’clock.
The watch is furthermore preserved in excellent, nearly unworn overall condition and sold with the full set of accessories, further enhancing its desirability.
A similar white gold ref. 18079 with burgundy lacquered Stella dial featuring round-cut diamond hour markers and baguette-cut diamonds at 6 and 9 o’clock is illustrated in Day-Date, The Presidential Rolex, by Pucci Papaleo, Spin Edizioni, pp. 362 & 363.
