Lot Essay

This endangered species strap is shown for display purposes only and is not for sale. The watch will be supplied with a calf leather strap.

Amongst the most celebrated timepieces of the German manufacture, the present reference illustrates the quest of A. Lange & Söhne to craft innovative and precise timepieces with movements of the highest quality. Named Zeitwerk, the wristwatch provides its wearer with the upmost legibility due to the size of the windows and its ingenuous jumping hour and minute system. Filling the entire case, the movement of the wristwatch provides an important amount of energy in order for the three discs to simultaneously move, made possible through a patented system increasing the available torque for the supply of energy to the wristwatch and the three discs for hours and minutes.

Also patented, a constant force escapement is used in order to stabilize the release of energy and the movement’s functioning during the 36 hour autonomy provided by the power reserve. Adding to the appeal of the wristwatch, the calibre L043.1 integrates a beautifully finished German silver 3/4 plate as well as a hand-engraved balance-cock necessitating between 50 to 90 hours for finishing.

Offered in excellent overall condition, the wristwatch will delight the most astute collectors, offered by the original owner and furthermore complete with its box and guaranty.
