The present Day-Date is a rare example of the early ref. 1806 cased in pink gold. It is distinguished by the crosshatch pattern texture on bezel and lugs, also known as “Morellis” or “Florentine” finish, the yellow gold bracelet dating from 1964 similarly decorated.
The “pie pan” dial displays an attractive champagne patina, the luminous material to numerals and hands showing the same colour.
The reference 1806 is a rare variation of the vintage Day-Date model. It was launched in 1959 along with the mechanical caliber 1555.
This model is illustrated in Pucci Papaleo Editore, Day-Date, The Presidential Rolex, 2015, p. 126.
