Never officially announced in public and made in a limited edition of just 20 pieces for Lange & Söhne’s most distinguished clients, the honey gold LANGE 1 is one of the rarest modern wristwatches ever produced by the company. Furthermore, it features a special grained-finish dial and frosted movement finish which are unique to this model.
The present watch offers the collector an exceptional opportunity to obtain the almost unobtainable.
The award-winning LANGE 1 is an icon of modern watchmaking. Launched in 1994, the model symbolizes Lange & Söhne’s excellence and innovation whilst maintaining the continuation of its historic horological tradition.
The dial design with all functions arranged off-centre, features Lange’s now famous patented outsize date, inspired by the digital clock in Dresden's Semper Opera, this design is considered to improve the legibility of the date by about three times in comparison with conventional date displays. The dial further features off-centre hours and minutes, seconds and power reserve indications. For this special honey gold version the dial has a grained finish, quite different to the smooth sheen of the standard LANGE 1.
The movement is Lange's hand-wound calibre L901.0, instead of the typical Glashütte ribbed decoration to the plates, this honey gold edition has frosted plates. The twin mainspring barrels provide a power reserve of around three days when fully wound. It furthermore features a stop-second mechanism for precision setting activated when the crown is pulled out.
