Lot Essay

The present ref. 3800/1 is one of the rare examples of the model bearing the signature of the renowned Swiss retailer Gübelin.
To the best of our knowledge it has never been offered in public before.

The Nautilus, designed by Gérald Genta, is one of Patek Philippe’s most recognizable and most popular models in today’s market. Its case shape has remained practically unchanged from its introduction in 1976 until today.

The reference 3800 was in production from 1981 until 2006 and available in different versions. It pays homage to the original Nautilus reference 3700 with a similar design and aesthetic except in a smaller size case and with the addition of a centre seconds hand made possible by the introduction of the Patek Philippe caliber 335 SC.

Gübelin was founded in 1854 and has always been a family enterprise. Located in Lucerne, Switzerland, the renowned company has designed and retailed superior quality watches and clocks ever since. Today, Gübelin has branches throughout Europe.
