Signed Bulova Watch Co., Case No. 214'442, Circa 1944

It was not only Joe DiMaggio's skills on the baseball field that earned him the title of one of the most respected men in American history. DiMaggio's life was one of many wins, from his roots in San Francisco to becoming a star Yankee player, and even after his more than impressive career, served voluntarily in the U.S. Military during World War II.

The present watch is accompanied by a typewritten four-page set of orders issued to Joe DiMaggio regarding assignments in the U.S. "S.Sgt. DiMaggio" is written in period pencil at the top right corner. In addition, this lot is accompanied by a photograph of DiMaggio in military uniform from his personal collection.

Furthermore, the present lot is accompanied by a Letter of Provenance, signed by Paula DiMaggio Hamra and Kathie DiMaggio Stein certifying that the present watch belonged to their grandfather, Baseball Hall of Famer, Joe DiMaggio, and originates from his personal collection as well as a Letter of Provenance, signed by Mike Agnew, certifying that the present watch at one time belonged to his uncle, Joe DiMaggio's chauffer.

This watch was made especially for the American market, as indicated by the movement import code stamp, BXW, and was originally presented to Joe DiMaggio in 1944. The case back is engraved;
