Lot Essay

Created by Cartier in 1967, the Crash model redefined the aesthetic codes of watch making through its asymmetrical case and dial. Inspired by a damaged Cartier timepiece retrieved from an executive of Cartier, the case will remind how it was crashed and melted from the car accident. In 1991 Cartier launched the Crash in a limited edition of 400 pieces with the current example numbered 188.
