Lot Essay

Cartier's 'Tutti Fruitti' jewels of the 1920s and 1930s were inspired by intricate Mughal carvings and craftsmanship that was celebrated throughout India from the 16th century onward. The incorporation of Indian influence and adaptation of Indian jewelry and gemstones was one of Cartier's greatest contributions to the Art Deco period.
