HUARMEY PANEL FRAGMENT

The vibrant band probably from a cuff, woven in slit-tapestry in camelid wool with two stylized mythical figures in profile, each with squared snout and toothy grin, holding a trophy-head, and wearing tunics of alternating colors, the lower edge in a wavy pattern.

The distinctive Huarmey textiles, show the influence of the Wari style with figures outlined in black for a greater graphic effect.

Lot Essay

Bande de vêtement provenant probablement d’une manche et issue d’un textile en laine de camélidé avec une bordure inférieure aux motifs ondulés, décorée de deux personnages mythologiques stylisés de profil au museau carré et au sourire carnassier, tenant chacun une tête-trophée et vêtus de tuniques aux couleurs alternées.

Les textiles typiques de la civilisation Huarmey montrent l’influence du style Wari avec ses figures tracées en noir dans le but d’obtenir un plus grand effet graphique.
