VERACRUZ STONE YOKE FRAGMENT, EL TAJÍN
The substantial fragment probably from a frog yoke, finely carved in low relief on the exterior side, on the short end carved with the realistic portrait of a dignitary in profile with youthful features distinguished by full, outlined lips and sunken elongated eye, adorned with a double-stranded necklace, earspool and elaborate headdress composed of scrolls and the stylized upper jaw of a mythical creature resting on the finely striated hair; in pale olive stone.
