Lot Essay

The transitional Submariner, 16800 series, was in production between 1982 and 1986. It differs from its predecessor 1680 by a deep rating to 1000 ft (300 m), sapphire crystal, quick-set date function and the entirely new movement caliber 3035. The present all-gold version Reference 16808 is a good blend of sporty and casual great for many occasions.

Furthermore, the astute collector will notice the unusual color of the luminous material to the numerals and hands. Due to age, it has turned into an attractive dark shade of yellow, almost orange, hence its derived nickname; Pumpkin Patina.
