Lot Essay

Of particular interest, the present chronograph features a highly attractive and rare black glossy Mark IV dial with tropical brown subsidiary registers of even colour. the topicalization phenomenon can occur due to the reaction between the paint and atmospheric factors (oxygen, UV light etc). The rarity of the timepiece is further enhanced by its excellent overall condition, the untouched case and the presence of the period accessories.

For another example of a reference 16520 Daytona with tropical registers, please see The Ultimate Daytona by Pucci Papaleo, pages 556 to 559.
