Lot Essay

Louis Cartier created the Santos watch in 1904, sealing his friendship with the aviator of the same name. The famous aviator's wish was granted: he could check the time while flying. The rounded angles and exposed screws of the dial made this model an iconic timepiece. The century of the watch was celebrated with a special Anniversary 1904-2004 Edition.
