Lot Essay

The collector’s seal belonged to renowned Hong Kong businessman Li Shiyou (Jack Lee, 1916-2015). Born in Taishan, Guangdong, Li travelled overseas at a young age and settled in the United States in 1953, with business interest in Hong Kong. Apart from his passion in collecting art, Li was also known as a master Chinese chess player. He was the president of the Hong Kong Chinese Chess Association.
