Lot Essay

Introduced into the market at the Basel Fair in 1956, the Day-Date has always been one of the manufacturer’s flagship models, enjoying continuous popularity. The model has seen an extraordinary variety of dials, watch cases and bracelets. Among these are the so-called Stella dial, produced for a short period during the 1970s, in a variety of colours such as oxblood red, turquoise, blue, green, light mint green and even yellow.

Following the ever-growing success of the “Stella” models Rolex introduced in 2013 a new series of Day-Date models featuring dials in different colours.

The reference 1803 offered here for sale is distinguished by the bright red lacquered Stella dial and its generally very good overall condition.
