The present Audemars Piguet Royal Oak "Japan Boutique Edition" is a limited edition of 70 pieces only. The "Japan Boutique Edition" was also available in pink gold and limited to only 30 pieces (for an example of a pink gold version please see lot 2232). Highly attractive and rare, the present specimen is distinguished by the combination of a platinum case with bracelet and an onyx dial and diamond-set indexes. The Royal Oak collection was introduced in 1972, redefining the identity of a sports watch.
