The only Patek Philippe minute repeater ever made in a limited series, the reference 5029 is regarded as one of the true classics. Seldom seen at international auction, the beauty of the pink gold version is appreciated both for its extreme elegance and discreet looks.
Launched in 1997 and only available from Patek Philippe’s Geneva boutique, the reference 5029 ‘Officier’ was limited to only 30 examples in total, 10 each in yellow gold, pink gold and platinum, the model was manufactured in 1997 to commemorate the opening of the new Patek Philippe production centre in Plan-Les-Ouates in Geneva. Reference 5029 was the first minute repeater to be housed in an ‘Officier’ style case with its gently curved body and straight screw-set lugs, paying homage to Patek Philippe’s early 20th century wristwatch design.
The cases of the reference were made by the renowned case maker Jean-Pierre Hagmann, whose mark, ‘JHP’, is stamped on the inside of the hinged case back. Housing the chronometer-rated automatic caliber RP27PS, one of the rarest and most sophisticated Patek Philippe movements, it has superb acoustics and is noted for its sharp, clear chimes.
