Further Details
Thoughtfully assembled in China in the early 1980s, this exquisite group of modern Chinese paintings was formed by a distinguished collector and patron of the arts. A keen interest in Chinese art and culture led to extensive travel throughout the country, where many of the works were acquired directly from the artists and have remained in the family for nearly four decades. The collection is noted for its spirited depictions of still-life, vegetables, and animals, reflecting the subject matter with great sensitivity and a certain joie de vivre. Christie’s is honoured to bring these enchanting paintings to market, to be curated into new collections and appreciated with the same level of passionate stewardship.
