The oblong cigar box on four bracket feet, the stepped hinged cover engraved with inscription, the inside cover with glass panel holding cut grass with inscription with cedarwood lining and divider, marked on side; the shaped circular salver on four ball and claw feet, with foliate scroll and shell border, engraved with inscription, marked underneath
the cigar box 9 ¼ in. (23.5 cm.) long, 5 7/8 in. (15 cm.) wide; the salver 12 in. (30.5 cm.) wide
weight of the salver 36 oz. 7 dwt. (1,131 gr.)

The inscriptions on the cigar box read: 'TO MR HENRY FORD II FROM ALL AT DAGENHAM TO COMMEMORATE HIS VISIT TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY LTD ENGLAND FEBRUARY 1948' AND 'MAY 17 1929 THE LATE MR EDSEL FORD CUT THE FIRST SOD FROM THE MARSHLAND IN WHICH THE FORD WORKS NOW STANDS AT DAGENHAM, ENGLAND. THESE BLADES OF GRASS ARE FROM THE ACTUAL PIECE OF TURF HE LIFTED ON THAT HISTORIC OCCASION.'

The inscription on the salver reads: 'PRESENTED TO MR HENRY FORD II BY THE MAIN DEALERS OF THE UNITED KINGDOM 21st DECEMBER 1979'.
