Sanyu ne croquait le modèle que si la pose l'intéressait. Sinon, il dessinait les gens autour de lui, surtout les femmes et réalisait ses croquis en dix minutes. Il lui arrivait de transformer ces personnages, hommes ou femmes, jeunes ou âgés, en nus. Cela ne semblait ne gêner personne. En réalité, tout le monde l'admirait. Je pense que c'est ainsi qu'il a passé ses dix années à Paris. »
