Lot Essay

The present Classic Origin model is no. 9 of the extremely limited edition of only 12 pieces made in collaboration with Revolution & The Rake, renowned online watch and lifestyle magazines. Preserved in new condition, it is furthermore offered with the full set of accessories, representing the unique opportunity for collectors to acquire one of these highly exclusive timepieces.

The "Revolution & The Rake" edition in 40 mm. stainless steel Galet-shape case is distinguished by a variety of style elements differentiating it from the standard Classic Origin model, most notably its dial, reminiscent of the 1920s “sector” or “scientific” dials, enjoying enormous popularity today. The hands are “Assegai”-shaped, in blue steel. A second set of blued steel LumiNova-filled hands is sold with the watch.

Its LF116.01 movement is treated in a special micro-sandblasted yellow-gold finish, used previously in the Montre École watch, instead of the sandblasted black rhodium finish of the standard model. It is fitted with a traditional Swiss anchor escapement and a large free sprung balance wheel, according to Ferrier far more stable than a balance that is adjusted using a regulator: “The free sprung balance is nothing new but it is to me the best way to create stability in timekeeping.”

And last but not least the “Revolution & The Rake” limited edition is delivered with a stainless steel “beads of rice” bracelet, in the style of early Gay Frères bracelets, in addition to the Alcantara strap with beige lining.

Son and grandson of watchmakers, Laurent Ferrier, an important player in today's watchmaking scene, is the figure of the brand that bears his name. Profoundly attached to the excellence of traditional watchmaking, Laurent Ferrier was awarded the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix in the "Men's Watch" category for its first creation, the Galet Classic.
