Lot Essay

The most complicated watch produced by the International Watch Company, "Il Destriero Scafusia" or the "Schaffhausen Warhorse", was developed for the prestigious firm's 125th anniversary in 1993.

With a 44 hour power reserve and beating at 28,800 beats per hour, this movement offers a vast array of complications, amongst which is a titanium tourbillon cage; the heartbeat of the watch seen through the sapphire crystal display back of this incredibly impressive timepiece. At 42mm with a large and heavy case, this watch offers a huge presence both technically and aesthetically.

Accordingly to IWC the present watch was sold in 1995 and to the best of our knowledge less than 10 pieces were made with full diamond setting.
