Lot Essay

Created by Cartier in 1967, the Crash model redefined the aesthetic codes of watch making through its asymmetrical case and dial. Inspired by a damaged Cartier timepiece retrieved from an executive of Cartier, the case will remind how it was crashed and melted from the car accident. At the time, Cartier Paris, Cartier London and Cartier New York were operated separately as they were in the hands of different owners and Crash was available only in yellow gold and sold exclusively at the Cartier Boutique London.
