Lot Essay

The present lot is a preparatory study for one Braque's illustrations for Milarepa: Magicien-Poète-Ermite-tibétain. The book contains a translation by Jacques Bacot, a pioneering French Tibetologist, of the poems of eminent Tibetan yogi Milarepa (11th century AD), and was published by Maeght, Paris, in 1950.
