VICTORY VINTAGE MOUTON
Château Mouton-Rothschild 1945
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Ex Christie's - July 1975. Oxidised capsules. Two slightly corroded and damaged capsules. Badly bin-soiled labels. Two slightly damaged labels. Four Mestrezat-Preller slip labels. One Etablissement Vinicole de Barsac slip label. Levels: one top-shoulder, three upper-shoulder and two mid/upper-shoulder
Tasting Note: (Mid-shoulder level). Deep ruby with garnet tints. Explosive aromatics with menthol and cassis to the fore with complex notes of cedar, cigar box and hints of truffle. Belies its age with such an intense richness on the nose. On the palate intense and concentrated flavours of cassis plum and black cherry. Fine grained tannins and a wonderful balance of fruit concentration and refreshing acidity to leave a very long persistent finish. Combines power and elegance; richness and finesse. A classic Mouton. 100 Points. Now-2050. Tasted September 2021. Tim Triptree MW
