Lot Essay

Born in Hungary, Kelety studied in Toulouse and Paris. He modeled small-scale figures of dancers, ladies of fashion, mythical characters and animals, generally mounted on marble bases. Another example of this model sold at Christie's New York, 6 December 2001, lot 148 ($76,375 with premium).
