This wonderfully original and unspoiled automatic Omega wristwatch with stunning looks is one of the exceedingly rare ‘DeLuxe Chronometer’ reference 14.325 models cased in platinum with diamond-set two-tone silvered dial. Introduced into the market in 1953, the iconic ‘DeLuxe Chronometer’ was available mainly in yellow gold cases. Examples in white gold or platinum are exceptionally rare and have become highly sought after collector's watches.
The appeal of the present watch is enhanced by its very good, original overall condition. The two-tone textured silver dial in particular is incredibly well preserved with no signs of any cosmetic intervention. Furthermore, the hour indexes are diamond-set, round diamonds for the hours and baguette diamonds for the quarter-hours. The platinum case, with an impressive for the period diameter of 35 mm. is given even greater presence by the large curved hooded lugs. Interestingly, upon close inspection, the case was made by Antoine Gerlach in Geneva, his mark of a number 4 within a key is punched inside the back. Gerlach was one of best Geneva case makers producing cases mainly for Patek Philippe. The automatic caliber 352 SC luxury chronometer movement with sweep centre seconds and ‘bumper’ rotor was the ultimate Omega movement of the day, revered for both its quality and accuracy. This caliber was also used in the Seamaster and the first Constellation model of 1952.
