The extremely attractive reference 5131G is one of the most coveted models of Patek Philippe's 21st century production. Its dial displays the map of Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania in cloisonné enamel, depicted in vibrant colours. The reference 5131 was launched in yellow gold in 2008 (Americas, Europe and Africa) with the white gold version following in 2009 (Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania). A pink gold version was issued in 2014 (Asia, Oceania and Americas) and finally the platinum version in 2017 (the North Pole). The white gold 5131G was discontinued in 2011. Only three or four artists are capable of making these exquisite enamel dials and due to their handmade status as few as only 30-40 could be made each year. Reference 5131 is the successor to the reference 5130, and has three notable differences - the use of a cloisonné enamel dial, the names of 24 world cities displayed in Italic type, and the signatures ‘Patek Philippe’ and ‘Genève’ engraved on the bezel.
