The cover decorated with figures by a ruined harbour with distant cliffs, the white ground sides with further figures in landscape settings enclosed in raised gilt scrolls, with paper label to the underside inscribed in ink 'I. Bodenham/ Thornton/ Hereford/Exhibited S. Kensington 1874' and with paper printed label 'on loan from I. Bodenham...'
