Lange & Söhne Lange 1 20th Anniversary Set
Fresh to the market, this superb white gold pair of ‘his & hers’ Lange 1 20th Anniversary wristwatches are, to the best of our knowledge, the first set in white gold to be presented at auction.
This special pairing of the legendary ‘Lange 1’ and ‘Little Lange 1’ was made to celebrate ‘togetherness’ for the 20th Anniversary of the now iconic Lange 1 model that was launched in 1994 and re-established the reputation of the historic brand for the modern era. Debuted at the Hong Kong Watches & Wonders fair in 2014, A. Lange & Söhne introduced five different pairings of the Lange 1 20th Anniversary sets, a limited edition of 20 pieces being made of each type. These highly exclusive sets of two watches comprise a Lange 1 (38.5 mm.) and a Little Lange 1 (36.1 mm). The Little Lange 1 is set with 64 brilliant-cut diamonds (Top Wesselton, VVS, 0.8 ct) set on the bezel.
Five case and dial variations were made: platinum with black dial; platinum with rhodium plated dial; white-gold with blue dial; pink gold with silvered dial and pink gold with black dial.
The dials of this limited series are made of solid gold and are particularly beautifully decorated with hand-guilloché work that gives an incredible richness and impression of depth.
Both the Lange 1 and the Little Lange 1 are powered by the in-house calibre L901.0 manually wound movement which can be admired through the sapphire crystal display caseback. Lange & Söhne finishing is regarded as some of the best in the world, the movement is decorated with Glashütte ribbing and features gold chatons for the wheel pivots, blued steel screws and of course the signature hand-engraved balance cock. The twin main spring barrels provide a 72-hour power reserve. For this special 20th anniversary model, the balance cock is additionally engraved with the number ‘20’.
